Please not that your energy retailer will have to install an export meter to be able to read the excess power been sent back to the grid. You organise this with your retailer once the install process is complete. There is a small charge of between $100- $160 depending on who you go with.

How important are the buy back rates?

The importance of the buy back rates depends entirely on your consumption of energy.

If you expect to export the majority of the power you generate during the day then the buy back rate is important when working out the economics of your solar installation.

If you expect to use the majority of the power your generate or are storing the excess power in a battery set up then the buy back rate is of little importance.
